Tell Friends About SDSU Through Facebook Connect
SDSU alumni may now display their Aztec pride any time they join the Alumni Association, register for an alumni event or donate to the alumni scholarship fund. Facebook Connect lets you share your Aztec connection everywhere!
Alumni Web site users may now publish all of their Aztec-related activities on their Facebook page.
“When you log onto our Web site, you will see an option to connect with Facebook,” explains SDSU Alumni Association program coordinator Jen Ranallo. “Click the button, enter your Facebook login information and that’s all you need to do.”
PUBLICIZE WITH PRIDE
Ranallo says the direct connection with Facebook just makes sense for users of the SDSU Alumni Association Web site.
“Before, we didn’t have a way to connect the two sites,” she says. “Facebook is the number one social networking place on the Internet, so instead of doing our own version of a social networking site, our alums can now use Facebook, but interact with our site.
“Now, for example, when you register for an event on our site, this is a way for you to tell your friends that you’ll be attending,” she continues. “Your friends who also went to SDSU may not know about a certain event, but when they see it on your Facebook page they now have the ability to click on it and register.”
Ranallo says a benefit for the university is that this type of so-called “viral marketing” lets users promote SDSU and publicize with pride the fact that they went to San Diego State.
