On September 16th San Diego State will launch the public phase of the "Campaign for SDSU," a five-hundred-million-dollar fundraising venture to propel the potency of our incredible institution. Remarkably we have already raised more than half that amount as the silent phase of this noble seven-year quest has been going for four years. At stake is simply the continued upward trajectory of our university's effectiveness in educating the current generation of State students. Also at stake is our burgeoning stellar reputation.
This is SDSU's first comprehensive campaign and the half billion goal is the result of years of analysis, effort and a strong partnership between the university and our philanthropic board, The Campanile Foundation.
So, what does it all mean to our alumni?
Well, there are many ways to support your alma mater:
Talking us up around the water cooler.
Showing your diploma.
Wearing some red and black.
Liking us on Facebook.
Sporting the bumper sticker.
While all of these are good, hiring some graduates in your field is even better. Likewise, volunteering, attending sporting events, visiting campus and attending concerts and lectures is great.
But here is the punch line: During the course of a seven-year campaign, we are all supposed to dig a little deeper and contribute monetarily to our school. Try asking yourself this: Did my education at San Diego State contribute to the quality of my life? Is that contribution compelling? Am I vested strongly enough in the end product of State's efforts to make a gift?
It is easy to do. Click here:
