Scholarship Criteria

Applications for the 2016-2017 academic year are available now. The deadline to apply is October 14, 2016 at 3 p.m.


SDSU Alumni Association Legacy Scholarship

Open to all class levels. Parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle or legal guardian must be an alumna/alumnus of SDSU and a lifetime member of the Alumni Association or current donor of any amount. Other criteria include:

  • full-time enrollment for undergrads, 6 units or more for grad students
  • demonstration of academic merit
  • 3.5 GPA
  • essay of 500 words or less
  • submission of an unofficial transcript copy
  • finalist interviews
Value: $5,000.

Frederick W. Pierce Volunteer Scholarship

Open to all undergraduate class levels. Demonstrated commitment to volunteerism and community service. Recipient will also be involved with alumni-centric organizations including Aztec Ambassadors, Aztec Pride, Student Engagement Officers, and Associated Students Board or their equivalents. Other criteria include:

  • full-time undergraduate enrollment
  • minimum 3.00 GPA
  • essay of 500 words or less
  • submission of an unofficial transcript copy
  • finalist interviews
Value: Multiple scholarships may be awarded. Each will have a value of at least $1,000.

Carl D. Folsom Alumni Scholarship

Open to all undergraduate class levels. Recipients will demonstrate service and commitment to alumni-centric organizations including Aztec Ambassadors, Aztec Pride, Student Engagement Officers, and Associated Students Board or their equivalents. Other criteria include:

  • full-time undergraduate enrollment
  • minimum 3.00 GPA
  • essay of 500 words or less
  • submission of an unofficial transcript copy
  • finalist interviews
