Long Awaited Alumni Center Now Open

The welcome mat is out at the campus home to SDSU's more than 200,000 alumni!  The Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center celebrated its grand opening during homecoming Saturday, October 17.

With the theme “There’s No Place Like Home,” the event attracted more than 500 celebrants.  Police closed 55th Street to accommodate the crowds for the traditional ribbon cutting and special unveiling of the new Alumni Aztec statue at the center of the building's striking rotunda.  

The dedication ceremony featured some of SDSU’s most prominent alumni including the center's namesakes Leon Parma ('51), Bob Payne ('55) and Jack Goodall ('60).  Adding a festive atmosphere to the celebration were the Aztec Warrior, SDSU Cheer Squad, and the Aztec Pep Band. 

Several campus and community dignitaries, alumni, SDSU faculty, staff, and students toured the 30,000-square-foot, two-story alumni center during a special open house held after the dedication.  Visitors wandered from room to room checking out the facility's many special features including donor plaques, pavers and a campus time line.

The $11 million Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center was funded entirely through private donations.
