SDSU Department of Psychology professor James F. Sallis will deliver the 2010 Albert W. Johnson University Research Lecture March 12.
SDSU alumni are invited to attend the 2010 Albert W. Johnson University Research Lecture on campus Friday, March 12.  Department of Psychology professor James F. Sallis, Ph.D., is scheduled to deliver the lecture, "Research That Drives Change: The Case of Physical Activity" at 3:00 p.m. in the Arts and Letters Building, Room 201.

The lecture will focus on the three approaches Dr. Sallis and his colleagues developed to increase physical activity in children, bringing the associated health benefits to millions worldwide. Awarded the 2007 Distinguished Scientist Award by the Society of Behavioral Medicine, Dr. Sallis’s primary research interests focus on promoting physical activity and understanding policy and environmental influences on physical activity, nutrition, and obesity.

Professor Sallis joined the Department of Psychology at San Diego State University in 1989. He is also Director of Active Living Research, a program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and on the Coordinating Committee of the National Physical Activity Plan.

The Albert W. Johnson University Research Lectureship, awarded for outstanding achievement in research and scholarship, marks the annual recognition of one of SDSU's most accomplished scholars.  It is founded on decades of scholarly research, yet is designed to be accessible to a general audience.
