PRE-GAME EVENT SELLS OUT
More than 200 Aztecs for Life and their families and friends attended the SDSU Alumni Association’s lifetime member gathering at the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center prior to the March 3 Aztec men’s basketball game with the Colorado State University Rams. The energy of the capacity crowd in the Grand Ballroom carried over to the game at Viejas Arena where fans cheered the Aztecs on to a 68-55 win over CSU.

Sponsored by Liberty Mutual, the pre-game festivities included hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, beach cruiser raffles and other prize giveaways. Among those enjoying the festive atmosphere was Robert Helton (’05), who won a beach cruiser bicycle raffle.
“It’s a nice bike,” observed Helton, “and the fact that we can come here and have fun while supporting the university is great.” The evening’s raffles and games raised more than $1,500 to support the SDSU Class of 2010 lifetime membership initiative.
PRIZE PRESENTATIONA highlight of the evening was the presentation of a beach cruiser bicycle to Aztec for Life Prize Giveaway winner, Matt Eggert (’01). Eggert and his wife, Gretchen, attended the event with their son, Jacob, who is a freshman studying mechanical engineering at SDSU.

It was the family’s first lifetime member event and their first visit to the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center.
“It’s very nice,” Eggert said of the new facility. “I had only seen it on the Web site and I didn’t know it was so big inside with this big ballroom and all. It’s also nice to see all the lifetime members turn out. I didn’t realize there were so many supporting Aztec basketball. That’s cool.”
And so are the Aztecs for Life who support SDSU with their lifetime memberships.
