Charles W. Hostler Institute on World Affairs

75th Anniversary Celebration

Please note: This event has reached capacity and registrations are no longer being accepted.

SDSU Provost and Senior Vice President Chukuka S. Enwemeka will host the 75th anniversary celebration of the Charles W. Hostler Institute on World Affairs. The event is set for Friday, February 24 beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center Fowler Family Ballroom.

The Hostler Institute, which features forums on compelling global issues and regions, has been dedicated to bringing the world to San Diego since 1942. The 75th anniversary celebration continues this tradition with three engaging speakers:

Nicholas Burns, a former U.S. ambassador to NATO and a former U.S. ambassador to Greece, is a professor at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. Current U.S. Ambassador to Turkey John Bass is also a former ambassador to Georgia. Special guest speaker Mary Eisenhower is president and CEO of People to People International, a nonprofit organization established by President Dwight D. Eisenhower to enhance international understanding and friendship through educational, cultural and humanitarian activities.

The Charles W. Hostler Institute on World Affairs has played an important role in sponsoring educational programs and speakers’ forums for more than seven decades. The late Ambassador Charles Hostler was a soldier, scholar, businessman, diplomat, humanitarian and philanthropist who used his international connections to build the institute’s network of global leaders, allowing a wide audience to understand the impact of world affairs.

The 75th anniversary celebration is open to the public. Questions may be directed to Melissa Henss at mhenss@mail.sdsu.edu or (619) 594-5744.
